Anisotropic Constitutive Modeling of Compressible Biological Tissue

نویسندگان

چکیده

The anisotropic continuum stored energy density (ACSED) functional is applied for accurate constitutive modeling of biological tissues and finite element implementation without the isochoric—volumetric split, anisotropic—isotropic or invariant split. Related stress elasticity tensors in reference current configurations are worked out. A new kinematic model derived based on tangent Poisson’s ratio as a cubic polynomial function stretch. ACSED model, along with accurately fits uniaxial extension test data compressible human skin, bovine articular cartilage, aorta samples.

A Constitutive Model for Anisotropic Soft Biological Tissue Subject to Mechanical Damage

Many soft biological tissues have the important task of transmitting necessary forces to control movements, hold organs in place or ensure a relatively continuous flow of fluids. Examples of these tissues are ligaments, tendons, skin and blood vessels. Biological tissues can be seen as composite materials whose constituents are assembled into a hierarchical structure. At a macroscopic structura...

Anisotropic constitutive equations and experimental tensile behavior of brain tissue.

The present study deals with the experimental analysis and mechanical modeling of tensile behavior of brain soft tissue. A transversely isotropic hyperelastic model recently proposed by Meaney (2003) is adopted and mathematically studied under uniaxial loading conditions. Material parameter estimates are obtained through tensile tests on porcine brain materials accounting for regional and direc...

Constitutive Modeling of Cardiac Tissue Growth

Long term responses of the heart to e.g. infarction or surgical intervention are related to response of the tissue to changes in the mechanical environment. The tissue response is likely to involve (local) change of mass. Implementation of the associated inhomogeneous change in volume for a complex geometry is cumbersome. In the present study, we propose a computational framework for finite vol...

Constitutive Modeling of Brain Tissue: Current Perspectives

Modeling the mechanical response of the brain has become increasingly important over the past decades. Although mechanical stimuli to the brain are small under physiological conditions, mechanics plays a significant role under pathological conditions including brain development, brain injury, and brain surgery. Well calibrated and validated constitutive models for brain tissue are essential to ...
